Take the Point Reyes Challenge!

Get Healthy This Summer & Help Support Trails at Point Reyes

The 2013 Point Reyes Trails Challenge is a program of Point Reyes National Seashore Association (PRNSA) in collaboration with the National Park Service. This 4-month self-paced exploration of the park encourages people to ride, walk, hike or run 25, 50, 75 or 150-miles of park trails between June 1 - October 1, 2013 in support of their health. Participants will have a chance to discover the beauty of Point Reyes through it's 150-mile trail system, while participating in healthy outdoor recreation at Point Reyes National Seashore. This program is funded in part by a grant through the National Park Foundation's Active Trails Program.

Participants can also help us raise funds in support of trail planning, design, construction and maintenance. Our 2013 goal is to raise $50,000 for the Trails Trust. Participants set their own individual fundraising goals and complete that through giving a gift, or by reaching out to friends and family to sponsor their hikes for health. Each Challenger or Challenge Team receives a fundraising webpage to ask for gifts, or they can collect donations and turn them in as they receive them to our office.

As a Challenger, each individual or team can choose where to hike as a part of your Challenge. For example some folks want to hit all four backcountry camps, or walk the entire Coast Trail from Palomarin to Limantour beach. Once you've decided how many miles and where to go, invite friends and family to join you. Have fun on the trail!

All Challengers are invited to attend a free Nature Walk on Drakes Beach Geology with instructor John Karachewski on Saturday, September 21 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Learn something new about park resources, rack up some miles, meet new friends and spend time in nature. RSVP to, space limited.
